S.C Matsebula & Oupa Matsebula

The Club is wholly owned by the Matsebula brothers who are successful local businessmen in commercial property and commuter transport business. As one of their social responsibility project, we funded Tornado Football Club, then a newly promoted team to the SAB league based in the rural community of Empakeni.

As a result of the above mentioned, they decided to make a sizeable and meaningful investment in football for the benefit of theMbombela Community and bought the status of Manchester United Football Club, a team affiliated to SAFA campaining in the SAB league. The team has since been renamed Mbombela United Football Club and thus becoming inclusive of all communities within the Mbombela Municipality thus making it a Mbombela brand.

Skhumbuzo and Oupa Matsebula who were born and bred in Mbombela are the founders and directors of Mbombela United Football Club. Growing up in KaNyamazane Township less than two hundred metres (200m) from their house was a soccer field of Thandulwazi Primary School. They fell in love with the sport and played competitive soccer at an early age. Despite the fact that the family had its own amateur soccer team (Westham United F.C) they were still recruited by Nelspruit Black Swallows F.C, one of the most powerful teams then.

During their schooling days they played in the schools’ first teams. They also played for teams in the First Division whilst in Durban (Crystal Brains F.C and UDW F.C respectively). They are still playing soccer today for a well known Mbombela social team called Millennium Masters Football Club.
